Baby's first leggings
OK, OK, fine! I have thrown my hands up to the fashion gods and have succumbed to the LiLo-induced trend of...leggings. Yes, I am that girl now. I avoided their siren song for months, pulling on jeans or yoga pants instead. Then, following an unfortunate 6-inch-deep icy muddy puddle incident, my parents kindly bought me these super-cute, waterproof boots for Chanukah (officially my most expensivo shoes ever!), and I have been purposefully puddle-stomping ever since.
The thing is, you need to tuck in your pants, something I have long been loathe to do. So I was clueless until the shoes saleslady showed me the trick: pegging your non-skinny jeans, junior-high-style, and pulling knee socks up over them. Hot. Luckily, I had just snagged myself a so-ugly-they're -cute three-pack from Target (love the strawberries!) so I had that covered.
But after about 36 hours, the whole peg, tuck, pull, repeat ordeal had grown old. I saw a woman (ok, about 500 women) rocking leggings with her boots and I said, "Eff it. I have long legs and a gift card to Lululemon burning a hole in my bedside drawer, let's do this thing."
So I hit Lulu before therapy (just being honest) and the greeter smiled/screamed at me "WELCOME TO LULULEMON! HOW CAN I HELP YOU?!"
"I'm here to buy my first leggings since 1989!" I cheered back.
She actually clapped...which did, I'll admit, make me kind of happy.
After trying on a few, I got these bad boys. And I am not exaggerating when I say I have worn the leggings-and-boots combo ever since. So three days, but still - impressive. I also love the fact that the leggings have a little key/credit card pocket in the back waistband with a white label that reads, "I belong to..." You write your name and number on it, just like mom used to do in summer camp, in case you're out running and something horrible happens. Dan thinks it's morbid but I love it. Like Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman, I'm a safety girl!
Have you succumbed to any fashion trends lately? Fringey-boots? Boyfriend jeans? Scarves? Share!
Oh, and BTW? You know those shiny spandex leggings that are everywhere now? (see above pic) I SO wore those when I cocktailed my way through grad school. Those puppies always hauled in great tips. Plus, all I needed was a little Windex and a paper towel for easy clean up.

Being so short means that trends usually just look awful on me (looks like I'm a child dressing in my mothers clothes), so I don't go for them. But I have had a thing for scarves since going to Istanbul! Mmmm scarves.
I love those boots!

Ah, the leggings. I tend to steer clear of those unless I have a shirt that comes down to my knees, but then I look like I am 2 inches tall, instead of the 4 inches that I really am. So, I have not succomb to the leggings. And those shiny ones...I don't even know how you get them on. I've seen silver and gold ones at the store. New years eve party anyone??

Hahaha...I haven't succumbed to leggings yet. I imagine by the time I do, they'll probably be out of style again. :)

Having lived through the 80's once, I must say I'm hesitant to revisit the era. But everywhere I look there are women with leggings/tight jeans tucked into boots, black eyeliner, and even side-ponytails.
I'm sorry, I just can't do it again!!!!!!!!!!!!!
But I bet you look hot in yours!
(And LOVE the boots!)

Love LOVE love those boots! And the leggings are cute too. Although I
have to say that my fave thing to wear with my
super-trendy-yes-I-succumbed-mukluk-style-knee-high-wedge boots are my
*gasp* skinny-cut Chip and Pepper jeans. They're basically leggings
made out of jean material so they, um, hold me in better than those
thin cotton kind. (Plus.... brrrr!)
