As Bills Pile Up, So Do The Pounds?

You were reprimanded by your boss yesterday. You had to charge something on your credit card without knowing if you could actually pay it. Your husband has been distant lately. You feel trapped in a box and can’t get out. You’re gaining weight and don’t know why.

According to a new study conducted by The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Health & Society Scholars Program, all of this stress could contribute to weight gain. Women’s waistlines are affected by financial problems or a difficult job, strained family relationships and feeling limited by life's circumstances, the research suggests.

Because the economy has such high stress impacts, many people can gain weight if their financial situation is out of order. Changed eating habits, gender, and obesity are all factors when stress leads to weight gain.

According to the study, the best solution to this issue is to reduce stress (well, duh). Weight-loss programs in the workplace and more flexible hours can also help with relaxing. And last but not least, exercise is recommended. Healthy living to the rescue.

If you’re looking to get back on the “feel good” train, here are five ways to see immediate stress-reduction results:

Hello:

Im think that the  unknown´s is really an oportunity to think about what is most important in your life, bcause if you´re only destress by eating that means you're avoiding to really see the point of the matter.  The financial situation is  an oportunity! take it! and have a better life!!

I tend to eat more when I'm stressed out, especially sweets and junk food.  I know it is bad for my weight but I can't seem to stop it.  I really need to learn how to relax when I'm under financial stress or when I'm uptight over something my boyfriend has done.

It is soooooooooooooo TRUE! Stress is evil and it takes a lot of understanding of your body to control it. I have always used food as a stress reliever and it is something that has been very hard to get control of.

I now eat healthy and do a lot of self talk in stressful situations. I have been very successful recently with getting control of my eating and stress management!

With our country's financial situation, we have a lot of unknown's to think about.

Best Wishes to y'all!
