Get Skinny—The Bitchy Way

Apr 09, 2009

Are you in with the Skinny Bitches? Best selling book authors Rory Freedman and Kim Barnouin have had a wildly successful ride with their Skinny Bitch series. From books to fitness videos, this series promotes a healthy and active vegan way of life. For some (or most), going vegan may be too extreme. The fitness videos, however, are anything but extreme. They're fun, silly, real and most importantly—butt-kicking.

Skinny Bitch Fitness: Booty Bounce is the third fitness DVD that the two good friends have proudly brought to the market. Hitting the stores April 14, Booty Bounce isn't just for your booty—it's a full body workout. The name was chosen because it's a dance based video that gets your booty bouncin'.

With a total tough-love approach, the video takes "no pain, no gain" to a new level. The ex-model and ex-agent are right there with you, taking your pain with a grain of salt.

"It absolutely is love," Rory said when asked about the tough-love approach. "At the end of tough, is love. We're not polished news anchors; we're admitting that we're not here to put on a show and sell ourselves. We gotta kick our asses and we'll kick yours, too!"

There's no dance experience required; and if you try out the DVD, you'll see that the two friends can hardly call themselves dancers. With un-edited mess ups and conversations about how they "look like fools" on camera, you'll feel in your element and psyched to dance your booty off.

"We've got cellulite, jiggle, and we're just trying to have fun," Rory said. "It's a total dance-off."

Created by celebrity trainer Patrick Goudeau, this dance-off has a hip-hop 70s-80s vibe—and it will have you bouncin, boppin, and toning.

Though it may seem that this video is fun and games, we know that getting the motivation to work out can be tough. When asked if she had any motivation advice, Rory explained that it's okay to take a day off and "sometimes it's just not gonna happen." Getting it over with first thing in the morning is the most effective time to work out, because then you don't have reason to put it off throughout the day, she said. Also, when you do something good for yourself in the beginning of the day, you feel better the rest of the day.

"Don't give up," Rory said. "Don't be focused on the scale. Don't be results-oriented, be present. Treat your body as a temple."

The booty bouncin' vegan described "good health" in five words: food, fun, friends, fitness, freedom. (Alliteration unintentional).

Will you be getting skinny the bitchy way?

Could you tell me if this video is ok for a reasonabley fit 55 year old? It sounds fun but I don't want any step videos. Linda
