Just Like a Circus

I never thought I’d find myself swinging upside down from a trapeze during a workout session to tone my arms, improve balance and boost my endurance. But when trapeze artist Lorelei MacDonald suggested I try her new circus-inspired personal training program Gravity Defying Fitness I couldn’t pass up the opportunity. I had heard about circus and trapeze workout classes growing in popularity in major cities across the U.S. and Lorelei’s program seemed like a great new way to get motivated to start exercising again.

And boy was it. Because everyone’s body is different and the training targets all shapes and fitness levels, the personal training sessions are customized to your needs and fitness level – even if you’re a beginner. Aerial based conditioning, as Lorelei calls it, focuses equally on coordination, balance, flexibility as well as strength and endurance, all while building confidence and self-esteem. “Gravity Defying Fitness is all about getting over your fears and training for the obstacles life brings your way,” Lorelei says. “Life is competitive and requires courage, stamina and focus. So why not train for it?”

While Lorelei only teaches Gravity Defying Fitness in New York City, there are many circus-themed classes in gyms nationwide. If you want a fun trapeze and rope workout check it out for yourself by visiting the GDF website, gravitydefyingfitness.com.
