President Bobblehead?

Nov 02, 2009

Nearly one year ago today, Barack Obama was elected the 44th President of the United States. The first African-American to hold the office, Obama is a graduate of Columbia University and Harvard Law School, has served as a US Senator and leading Chicago community organizer, a civil rights attorney and a professor. He has instilled a sense of hope across the world and has championed change – in health care, peace efforts, environmental repair and more. He just won the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize.
Now if only he could gain some weight.

That’s right, joining the ranks of Renee Zellweger, Kate Moss, and Lindsay Lohan, President Obama is the latest victim of hushed “Is he too thin?!” rumors.

The nonsense surfaced after some pics emerged of Obama leaving a gym. His jacket and pants are a bit baggy, making him look a little twiggy in comparison.

The Drudge Report has (somewhat nonsensically) dubbed him“Barack ‘N Bones,” citing an insider who was quoted as saying, “No, he's not chain smoking. He's working non-stop for the country... yes, he does occasionally skip meals."

Last week, when questioned about his weight in Miami, the presidential basketball aficionado quipped, "Just because I'm skinny doesn't mean I'm not tough."

People, we need to get ourselves some lives here. He’s a tall, lanky, active, stressed-out man leading the free world. His constitution and lifestyle simply aren’t conducive to massive weight gain. Yes, he’s stuck behind a desk or on Air Force One much of the time, with access to fattening-on-the-go food. But, slowly-decreasing smoking habit aside, it’s clear from his dedication to working out that he values his health. He doesn’t have time to put on 50 pounds. He’s not manorexic, just busy.
At least now he knows how his wife feels, having her body called out in the media time after time.

Wow, that really is extreme body snarking.  I know for a fact if I was under that kind of pressure - he just got the Nobel Peace Prize and then was informed it was an aspirational award! - I would lose weight too.  Kudos to him for working out and keeping a smile on his face in the midst of it all!
