In Search of the Perfect Fitting Boot Part 2

World Boot by Ros HommersonIt’s not Shark Week it's Boot Week! As promised, I completed my research into finding the perfect boot by actually purchasing and wearing some boots, and like the song goes, “Two Out Of Three Ain’t Bad!” This will be Boot Week where I go and search for the “Perfect Boot”

Let’s put our worst foot first. The David Tate Daytona from Zappos. I sent them back. They were too wide for my calf even though I had measured them correctly and bought accordingly. They bunched at the ankle and did not give as the leather was very stiff. I couldn’t see wearing these boots all day. I had my doubts when ordering as it was described as the finest, softest calfskin leather for $176.95 and those doubts were proven true when I tried them on. Thumbs down.

Now let’s get Happy Feet! I am so in love with the World - Extra Wide Calf Boot by Ros Hommerson.(pictured) It is a riding boot with 1" heel (for those of you that don’t want to add any height). It is made out of rich, soft calf leather that really shows its quality. It has a 15” high shaft and comes in black and brown leather. It also comes in a - Super Wide Calf Boot called Sphere by Ros Hommerson.Remember ladies it is most important that you take measuring your calf seriously if you want the boot to fit.

I have been wearing my 8 ½ wide boots every day for the past two weeks. They fit perfectly and ladies your legs will be kept nice and toasty this winter in these boots. I love the fact that it has some great moisture management technology inside called Dri-Lex.I put it to the test when the weather changed last week when it felt like summer outside! One of the things I didn’t miss was the squish as the width of the foot comes in medium, wide and extra-wide as well.  My toes fit comfortably and happily went wee-wee-wee all the way home and back to work again! All for $199.00

I want these boots to last me a long time. So, I took them to the shoemaker and had them soled. (This increases the useful life of any shoe or boot and it is something I highly recommend). I had Geppetto put a half sole and heel on them.

Tomorrow I will talk about my other favorite boot. The Dress Boot. Also, I will discuss other challenges that we face when looking for the perfect boot.

Are you still looking for the perfect boot? What are your challenges?

First off, thanks so much for your insight, Lisa!  I just bought the World boot and LOVE IT!!!  I've managed to make it work with almost every outfit in my fall/winter wardrobe!  I had to go up half a size and double my normal width, but I just wear heavy socks and they fit perfectly!  Thanks again!
