It’s time for you to kick off your winter shoes and break out your sandals because the really hot weather is almost upon us here in the Northeast and we need to get ready to look good at that pool party and at the shores. I want to help you strip down and feel comfortable and confident when wearing beach wear this summer!

My first post about swim suits recommended that you try a Tankini when you went shopping for a suit this season. This type of swim suit lends itself to mixing and matching the two pieces or even sizes that really fit and flatter your shape. A-line skirts are always a treasure!

We are all trying to cut costs these days, but try not to cut quality when looking for a new swim suit. Ask Yourself: Do you buy a cheap disposable item that might just barely last one season or do you get a higher quality (and maybe more expensive) item in a classic style and print that can last more than one season? Remember, you are wearing this swim suit in the salty waters and chlorine filled pools. Quality suits will react better to these elements…they may cost a bit more…but you will get more out of them!

Also, try to stay away from super trendy looks that may not carry over to another season. Instead, look for classic styles and prints that will last more than one year. When I shop for my store I always try to shy away from overly trendy styles and get more classic styles with prints that will last more than one year.

Another great style that has worked for the past few seasons features a Bandeau top. It brings the eye up and away from the tummy area.  It is often combined with ruching. I absolutely love the Twist Front Bandeau Swim Mini Dress (pictured above) by Always for Me. We did well with it last year and now it is new and improved. Not only does it have full tummy control but they added in padded soft bra cups and extra side support to hold you in all the right places!

This year I love love love the metal rings added to the swim suits. It is not over the top and can be easily carried over to next season. Carol Wior Swim Dress uses these and it’s reminiscent of the forties style, it is very retro without looking like a “grandma” suit. The look of the Swim Dress is the great princess seams that can flatter any figure. The lingerie straps have gold metal rings on them….bringing the eyes up! My favorite is when they add metal rings to the empire waist area and in the center of the bust line. Another was a Halter two-tone one piece swim suit: The deep V lengthens the torso and the royal blue color on the top half brings the eyes up along with a double metal ring at the center bust line.

Of course when you are putting together your look for the beach you should concentrate on your accessories which are very on trend this summer. Chunky big jewelry, bangles, oversize sunglasses, big floppy hats and cute flip flops will really enhance your look. A great cover-up is a must as you go from the pool to the party…..but that’s another post!
