    Can you really think yourself thin? A woman in England did and lost 50 pounds. Marion Corns was hypnotized to think she had gastric bypass surgery. Her hypnotist placed aromas in her office to smell like a hospital and talked Corn through the imaginary surgery over five sessions of hypnotherapy. Afterwards the woman woke up with memories of the surgery and ate as if her stomach capacity had been reduced. She even felt sick to her stomach if she ate a large amount of food.

    FRIDAY, May 29 (HealthDay News) -- When it comes to boosting your mood, exercise is the gift that keeps on giving and giving, new research suggests. In fact, the feel-good afterglow a workout brings may last far beyond the hour or so that's been previously assumed. "Moderate intensity aerobic exercise improves mood immediately and those improvements can last up to 12 hours," concluded study lead researcher Dr. Jeremy Sibold, assistant professor of rehabilitation and movement science at the University of Vermont, Burlington.

    FRIDAY, May 22 (HealthDay News) -- High levels of vitamin D might help keep the brain healthy as people age, new research suggests. For the study, which included more than 3,000 European men aged 40 to 79, the researchers assessed the men's memory and how quickly they processed information. They also examined other factors that affect mental agility, such as physical activity levels and mood. Blood samples were taken to measure the men's circulating levels of vitamin D, which the body produces through exposure to sunlight and obtains through dietary sources.

    My health nut friend is constantly harping on me to quit caffeine. I fight back, showing him research that caffeine in moderation is safe and even provides some benefits. Now I have even more ammo to bust his chops.
