#7 Fatigue

wanted to know if there is someone out there that has a real diet that has worked for them. I am 25 years old and a mother of three.. I am not happy with my weight and would like to lose it permanently and in a healthy way. I have a friend that suggested lemon juice with salsa and water for 13 days and not eating anything only drinking this juice she said it worked for her lost 20 pounds...I am not sure if I want to try it but it seems really unhealthy i don't know what else to do.

I am a client of Smart for Life cookie diet and lost 30 lbs. I have been in maintainence ever since and have struggled with 10 lbs. I tend to cheat alot with real cookies. But I will get focused and be back on track. The diet is monitored by a physician and I have nothing but praise for the diet. Unfortunately my center reorganized and I am not happy with the service now. I can give the diet nothing but praise

Sorry, but I must disagree with the stated protein needs. One only needs 0.8 grams of protein per kilogram of body weight. To determine kilograms from pounds, simply divide the pounds by 2.2 to get kilograms. Then multiply that number by 0.8 to get the amount of protein you need daily. In general, people consume far too much protein, which damages the kidneys and actually leeches calcium from bones. By this example a 150 pound person only needs 54 grams of protein, far less than what is recommended here. Even very active people/athletes or those populations who are growing only need about 1 gram of protein per kilogram of body weight. More protein does not equal more strength or growth, as the excess is excreted (and that is what taxes the kidneys).

I am not a fan of "going on diets". I think it is better to lose the weight slower but change your habits and get a better eating lifestyle started.
