Too Good to Be True: Chewing Celery Burns Calories

Eating Ice Burns Calories
Sorry ladies, but eating ice or drinking ice-cold water isn't the answer when it comes to losing weight. Though drinking water is healthy, the energy (and calories) it takes to heat up the water in your body is very minimal. Fernstrom says drinking water most certainly won't hurt you, but it's just not a significant calorie burn. While it is true that your body has to heat ice water, don’t count on that for a measurable calorie use.

I'm of the "every little bit helps" school. Although the calories burned chewing celery are miniscule, as are the calories in celery, I still feel it is a smart choice for dieters. Low in calories, filling, and keeps my mouth busy with something other than potato chips. I'll continue chewing celery stalks and filling up on ice water between meals. Can't hurt. Might help.

I think the liquid calories thing pinches people all the time. They watch every morsel of food that passes their lips but ignore the calorie content of the juice and other liquids they may be drinking. If you are trying to lose weight and think you are doing all the right things to no avail, you may need to watch your liquid intake a little close. Write down EVERYTHING you've eaten and drank through the day and add up the calories. This will make it easy to find the culprit that is getting in the way of your weight loss.
I have to say that I always recommend drinking 6-8 glasses of ice cold water. I'm not convinced that I should stop either. I think any benefit that it may have on the metabolism is a plus, even if it is minor. Great Post!
