I LOVE Biggest Loser and don't miss an episode. I actually will watch it more than once a week ..lol. I am currently doing Nutrisystem and I bought the Biggest Loser 2 workout video with Bob and Kim. (Bob's bootcamp almost kills me..lol). I have bad knees and back, so I do what I can. But, the BL has inspired me so much. There is even a Nutrisystem version of the biggest loser challenge going on. we are in week 3. weigh in is on Saturdays. I too had a gastric bypass but never lost more than the initial 121 lbs that I lost. I actually gained 44 back. but never again!!!!

Hi Fran,
I just read your comment on the Biggest Loser transformations and I could have written that post!! I, too, had WLS but mine was 8 yrs ago, April 2001. Started at 278, lost to 170, size 26 down to size 12, have regained and am now averaging 222!!! UGH!!! How did I let that happen again??
Please contact me at Venus905 at aol dot com. If we stay in touch daily, we can motivate each other to lose the weight again!
I am starting Slim Fast plan tomorrow.
Please respond, I CARE!!

Am I missing something here? the numbers for the weight lost by contestants do not add up.
If she was 234 lb and lost 198 lb she must be now 36 lb ?
I have never been overweight, but it has not been always easy, it is a hard work and requires constant awareness. As soon as I gain a few pounds I make adjustments to what I eat.
I have a few tips for everyone that is trying to lose weight, they work for me.
1. Eating breakfast is very important !! and it should be always high in protein content. Protein digests slower so you feel full longer.
2. When you feel hungry try drinking a glass of water, many times you read your body incorrectly and think you are hungry while you are only thirsty. I do not like water so i add lemon juice to give it some taste, no sugar though.
3. Get moving before you sit down and turn the TV on. Clean up the house, go for a walk, go work in the garden if you have one. Once you sit down in front of TV, thats it, you are glued to the sofa, so try to do it as late in a day as possible. Make yourself work for the right to sit down.
4. Start you weight loss program at the supermarket. Many times I want to just grab someone and shake them when I see the shopping cart of the overweight person. DO NOT BUY bags of pasta, cookies, chips, candies. Carbs are bad!
5. Buy a lot of fruit and vegetables and prepare a few bowls of them as soon as you get home. Put them in the fridge so that it is as convenient to grab them as it would be to open a bag of chips.
6. your plate should look like this...1\4 protein, 1\4 carbs and 1\2 veggies.
do not eat bread in addition to pasta. Carbs are bad!
good luck

Try reading the book 21 pounds in 21 days.. It is a book about detoxing your body of toxins, it may be a great way to restart with a clean and detoxified body.

I used to weigh 240 lbs. when I was a freshmen in high school. I am now 25 years old and I now weigh 190 lbs. I have to watch my weight, because I am a pre-diabetic.
