I found a really good one at the library Called 'Muscle eats fat' It's a Lotte Burk program from a studio in New York. I am 60 years old and The trainer is 50. I've used it now for two Months and still love it. You are right, most of the other programs are run by twinky size teeny boppers.
My advice is to check out your local library first, before buying any exercise program.

The first thing is you shouldn't look at yourself as old & fat. Age is only a number & fat, well I prefer to call it well blessed! hehe. I have been well blessed as long as I can remember. My husband & I recently decdided that it's time for a change. We aren't dieting though. We are making lifestyle changes - choosing to eat better. Make it a family thing - it's easier when you aren't doing this alone.
The biggest thing that has helped me is watching what I'm eating. READ THE LABELS - and watch portion / serving sizes. By doing that, decreasing my calorie intake & drinking mostly water I have lost 14 pounds in 5 weeks!!
For the water I suggest buying a filter pitcher & keeping it in the fridge. If you just can't seem to force yourself to drink water from a cup, invest in a sports bottle. That's what I did & now it's easy for me to drink 8 8oz glasses a day & sometimes more!
Also, set goals for yourself. Small ones - like 10 pounds at a time. Then reward yourself with a non-food item. I know - the money thing... but you can make it something as simple as a long, warm bubble bath with no interruptions, or a special play day at the park with the family or your pet. Get creative with your rewards!!
