Juicy Weight-Loss Tips

A recent study shows that weight gain has a direct correlation with the consumption of high-calorie, sugar-sweetened beverages. We talked to Robert Barnett, editorial director of YourTotalHealth and co-author of Volumetrics Weight Control Plan, and iVillage nutrition expert, Madelyn Fernstrom, Ph.D.,CNS, about ways you can cut back on sugar calories. Because our bodies do not perceive liquid calories and solid calories as the same, we still eat the same amount of food when we consume sugary drinks, resulting in more total calories consumed.

I actually have several beverage bottles that I fill with water each day. I also like to freeze fruit cubes and mix them in my water bottles. I also will add a little flavored "healthy" powder mixes to the water and let set in the fridge overnight. Works out great, I bring them to work and make sure I'm fueled up everyday!

Another thing that is good and quite refreshing! Make a gallon of ice tea, no sugar to it! While the tea is still  warm add one slice orange. Slice the whole in and drop them in! The warmth of the tea will bring out a tad bit of the orange rind, and the orange pulp gives the tea a nice mellow sweetness. Not too sweet! I do not like sweet tea, rather have it with nothing in it at all, but this is particularly nice in the summer when its hot and you get burned out on sticky sweet tea and leamon tea!

I have also squeezes the juice into icecube trays and added a bit of the orange into the cbe as well. freeze and thenyou can add your desired amount to you own tea instead of a gallon! Keeps the tea nice and cold! I never use orange juice you buy because it does have such hugh sugar, and fresh tastes so wonderful!
