Healthy Dollar Snacks

Make Your Own Granola
Food writer and culinary genius Mark Bittman says homemade granola not only tastes better, but it contains better ingredients. We wholeheartedly agree—and it’s cheaper! Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Combine 3 cups of rolled oats, 1 teaspoon cinnamon, 1 cup nuts, half cup of honey and a dash of salt. Place on a sheet pan and bake for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally, until brown. Keep it in a sealed container for your snacking pleasure.
Cost per serving: $1.12 (makes 8 servings)

What a great reference! Eating healthy can be intimidating b/c of the cost; it's nice to know you can do it for less.
