Portion Control at a Restaurant

Cindy S., NeverSayDiet User
Hometown: Texas

My biggest problem is going out to eat with my husband and family. In the house I can manage to control my portion sizing and healthy eating habits. However, when I go out to eat with the kids, the bread arrives and I'm through. The portion sizes at restaurants are also extremely over-sized, which causes me to over-stuff myself and sometimes even feel sick after a meal. Some rules I've made myself when going out to eat are:

- No bread
- Drink tons of water
- Light appetizers only
- Never eat more than half of my entree
- No picking at other peoples' food, one bite only to try something
- No dessert

This way, I can still go out to eat and fully enjoy myself, but I'm able to go home and feel good about what I ate.
