Starting Small To Win Big

Stacey

Try starting small. Find a friend that you think will keep you motivated and go for a short walk. When you're chatting away with your walking partner time goes a lot faster. Another cool little thing is if you invest in a Wii you should get Wii Fit! We got one and it's really fun. It makes you sweat and it doesn't feel like you're going out of your way to exercise. It's great for those days that are just too miserable to leave the house.

I am a 46 year old women, 5 foot 2 and 110 to 113. I have maintained that  weight range for about 2 years. I have twice been 170, many other times 135,140. About 3 years ago my weight had crept up to130 and a aquaintance made a comment that woke me up out of my denial and defiant refusal to get on the scale. I was and still am an avid biyclist. I became willing to want to GET REAL, and stop trying to cardio off all the calories (it wasn't working anyway). I bought a scale and made a commitment to learn to stop eating EMOTIONALLY). My succes comes from GETTING HONEST about portions, snacking and exercise. I also have learned to respect and love food and I have become a better cook too. The releif of not being in a "cardio" nightmare(burn off the calories) has freed me up to enjoy yoga and some weightlifting. I really really like yoga! I weigh myself twice a week so I can't b.s. myself anymore. What freedom. I realize that if I want to look a certain way I am going to have to eat a certain way. I am not a hungry construction worker and I shoudn't be eating like one! What works for me is 3 meals & 1 or 2 100 calorie snacks. I eat about 1700 to 2200 calories a day every day. I do not allow people to pressure me to eat, say at a party for instance. I can be gracious about it. If the food is very rich, I eat a little bit. I eat alot of vegatables and fruits. I am not a vegatarian. I am not much into "fat-free"; "light" is OK(say for a bottled salad dressing). My worst habits are diet soda, crystal light and equal. I am not perfect! I truly do enjoy being slender.
